Persistence isn’t commonly seen as a spiritual virtue—although that’s the way it’s most often talked about in the Bible. In our reading for today, persistence is shown to be key factor in obtaining justice, among other things. Let’s take a look together!
- Describe a time persistence worked for you. What was its object? What were the obstacles, if any? How did you feel having obtained what you sought?
- Luke offers persistence as an antidote to discouragement. Where in your faith have you experienced discouragement? How has persistence helped? In what ways does persistence reflect your trust in God?
- The judge is described as being unjust because he neither cares about God nor about other human beings. In what ways does this description point out the differing character of God? What do you think we’re to infer from this contrast?
