As Christians, we are called both to patterns of believing and patterns of doing. What does that look like? Let’s see what Jesus has to say!

  • Have you ever been caught in the dark? Have you ever been on a salt-restricted diet? What were those experiences like for you? How might people’s experiences of these things help you understand the need for what Jesus is calling his people to do in the world?

  • One of the key characteristics of both light and salt is that they naturally spread out. A flashlight’s beam stretches out into infinity. You can’t salt half the soup! How do these “habits” of salt and light inform your understanding of Jesus’ use of these images?

  • In what ways are your beliefs expressed in your behavior? How should they be?
